July 22, 2015 Millionaire Fact of the Day

July 22, 2015 Fact of the Day:  With increased net worth, who is paying the bills?  Men or women?

DID YOU KNOW THAT AS NET WORTH INCREASES, MEN BECOME MORE LIKELY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYING THE HOUSEHOLD BILLS?

In households with $1MM or less in net worth, 30% of husbands say they pay the bills.  But in households with $5MM or more, 45% of husbands indicate they pay the bills.

But who pays the bills also depends on how much people know about investing.  For those who are very knowledgeable about investing, 48% of husbands pay the bills, and 19% say the wife does.  In contrast, among those who know little about investing, only 23% say the husband pays the bills, while 42% say the wife does.  So who pays the bills seems dependent on a lot of different factors.  Who pays the bills in your house?

But more important than WHO pays the bills is being able to pay the bills.  And paying bills is less stressful when you know that you will be able to meet your obligations in the future.
