July 14, 2015 Fact of the Day: Where are investors investing?
DID YOU KNOW THAT REGIONAL PREFERENCES FOR INVESTING HAVE CHANGED?
A few years ago, many investors, regardless of wealth level, were very interested in investing in Brazil: 20% of Millionaires and 25% of Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNW) individuals.
However, by late in 2014, interest in Brazil had waned, particularly among wealthier investors. Interest among Millionaires had dropped to 9%, and among UHNW, it had dropped to 12%. Investment interest in China and India also declined during the same period.
Instead, now investors are looking more toward investing in Europe and the United Kingdom. Investment interest in both regions has grown, and is even higher among more wealthy investors. Among the UHNW, interest in the UK has nearly doubled, going from 7% to 13%. Among Millionaires, interest in Europe has increased from 12% to 20%.
It will be interesting to see if the Greek tragedy currently playing out will change investor’s propensity to invest in Europe.
