Heather's Couture Corner - The Couture Birkenstock?

| BY Heather Kiely

When I first saw these "couture" versions of the Birkenstock on the runway I had to take a double take and say are you kidding me? First of all, I didn't think Birkenstocks were stylish back when the hippies in High School wore them in the late 90's! And now a decade and a half later Prada, Givenchy, and Marc Jacob's are tramping them up and down the Spring/Summer runway calling them fashionable and putting a $795 price tag on them!

Now, I am all for spending money....However, this is mind boggling to me AND other fashion bloggers are jumping on board and posting there new "couture" Birkenstocks with skirts and dresses!!! I want to call a press conference for this horrible fashion offense! In my opinion, they are very bulky and masculine, and frankly unattractive. I have always liked to dress women to look their best and look like ladies, so this style is going against nature!!!

Now, if you totally disagree with me ( which it seems many do...)
and are dying to get your hands on this new trend don't let me steer you away.... You can purchase these Givenchy "Rose Camouflage Leather Sandals" at Saks Fifth Ave for $795. I wonder if my Dr. Scholls will be making a come back? After all I did have them covered in Swarovski crystals during that craze ten years ago?? I'm Heather Kiely reminding you to keep your investments where you can see them; in your closet, of course!!!
