Heather's Couture Corner - Riding Boot Perfection

| BY Heather Kiely

When it comes to the perfect riding boots, you should look no further than Chanel. I, of course, have a special spot in my heart for Chanel. Considering all of the boots I have owned, my favorite pair is my black pebbled leather Chanel riding boots. I love the heart dip down that in front, and how the back is higher than the front. I ALWAYS get compliments on my riding boots and have several people ask, "Who makes those?"

Celebrities are no stranger to the Chanel riding boot and can be seen all over LA sporting them with shorts, leggings, skirts, and skinny jeans. Now, here is one detail about most Chanel riding boots that some may not like. They have a very slim calf which makes it hard to slip on if you have larger calves, or your pants are not tight enough. They are truly best worn with leggings, or on their own with shorts or skirts. I do wear them with my jeans, but they sometimes bunch up around the knee area, unless I wear legging jeans which most designer carry.

Where do you get these beauty must haves? Chanel can not be purchased online. It has been a boutique exclusive brand forever, and I don't see them changing that. You must go into a Chanel boutique, or a boutique located inside Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, or Saks Fifth Ave. Which considering I am a six, and I took a seven in my riding boots, you would want to try them on anyways and walk around the store to make sure you are getting the right size. Another tip I have for the Chanel riding boot that my sales associate gave me was to have the leather soles covered with a rubber weatherproof sole for wet days, winter days, and icy days. I love the way a leather sole wears over time, and the comfort it provides you. Unfortunately, I can't even count how many times I have wiped out with leather soles on wet pavement! I went flying down a flight of wood stairs in my Lilly Pulitzer Bee sandals that had leather soles, and it was not pretty!! Vist your local shoe man after purchase and get those puppies slip proofed! Now, if you know Chanel, you also know it is not cheap….. A pair of riding boots can run from $1595 and up. The pair I purchased for $1495 have gone up to $1695 the last time I was at Neimans oogling the brown with black stitching sister pair. Gorgeous!!!! So, if you're looking for an investment piece that you will wear through the years, look no further than Chanel. Speaking of investments…… Looking to build your bank account to match your wardrobe?
