Heather's Couture Corner - Printed Jeans

| BY Heather Kiely

The other day I found myself wondering, "do people really wear printed jeans?" After that, I was on a mission to find out whether I was the only person out there wearing "the printed jean." I LOVE printed jeans (by the way)... but then I am also a very colorful person, and kinda artsy too! ;)

So, I set out to conduct my own mini survey. I asked 10 women if they would wear printed jeans or pants... and got a number of different responses. Half of the women I spoke to, would happily wear "colored jeans," but were not comfortable wearing a busy print on their bottom. The other half had a mix of opinions. One lady was really into the printed pants look, sharing that she wears a lot of Lilly Pulitzer in the Spring/Summer, and thinks a busy pant or jean adds fun flare to an outfit! In her opinion, cute elephant print pants went perfectly with a plain polo or white sleeveless shirt. She said she didn't really have any printed jeans for Fall, but wouldn't be opposed to wearing them if she found the right pair.

I spoke to another women in her mid-thirties who said she "would wear a printed pant like a cheetah or other animal print with a cute bootie and cropped leather jacket." The remainder of my sample (the last three ladies) said they spend most of their time in yoga pants chasing their little ones... but if they were going out or had a luncheon date, they would definitely consider a printed jean/pant!

Encouraged, I thought I should share my favorite printed jean options with you. With so many great choices out there for printed jeans/pants, I decided it would be best to focus on my top three favorites (all available online). I shopped primarily on and because Saks recently ran its Friends and Family sale both in-store and online, giving 25% off select brands from the 15th-20th.  JCrew is also running a 30%-50% off final sale (so you are almost getting the clothes for FREE!!!). Below, I will break down the adorable printed jeans/pants options I found for you and how much they will be with the discounts!!! Enjoy & and live colorfully :)

Saks Fifth Avenue: 7 For All Mankind "Leopard Print Jeans"
I am a pushover for Leopard anything!! I have been looking for a pair of leopard jeans and was going to pick up a cute pair I saw at Banana Republic, but I waited too long, and they sold out! :(  Luckily, I struck gold later as I was searching I originally was visiting the website to check out what I could get on sale as part of the Friends and Family promotion. On a side note - for those of you that follow my blog,  the Chloe Pointe Shoe Flats that I donned for my "Statement Necklace" post were eligible for the 25% off discount!

But back to my "Cheetah Jeans" - anyone who is looking for a great fitting jean should try 7 For All Mankind. They are always very flattering. The pair I had my eye on come in a black and white snow leopard that would pair well with a black cashmere sweater and either black booties or black pointed toe heels.

So, bring out your animal instinct and check them out today! 7 For Mankind "Leopard Print Jeans" Reg. $198.00, but only $148.50 with the 25% off Friends and Family discount.

JCrew: "Liberty Toothpick Jean in Matilda Tulip Floral"
So, JCrew recently partnered with London's Liberty Art Fabrics, an esteemed British House famous for it's signature florals and paisleys since 1875. And as part of the partnership, a hand sketched tulip print was adapted from photos snapped at London's Chelsea Flower Show, in a color palette inspired by Dutch pottery. I have worn these red, white, and blue printed jeans frequently this Summer/Fall and find them very comfortable and easy to wear with anything!!

In the Summer, I paired them with a navy polo and Tory Burch gold flip flops, but for the Fall, I'm wearing a navy cashmere sweater or navy sheer tunic, red Jimmy Choo's, and a chunky gold necklace. These pants will not disappoint!!! The only complaint I have about these jeans is that I paid full price for them back in August :(  Originally $150.00, now on sale they are $50, PLUS an extra 50% off brings these awesome pants to......drumroll.....$25.00 Crazy!!!

JCrew: "Toothpick Jean in Polka Dot"
Again, the fit of JCrew pants does not discriminate. They are form fitting, but not too low in the waist, and roomy enough to sit down (very important). I love that the Toothpick Jean in Polka Dot is a dark wash jean with dots in a light blue wash.

I think these are the most understated print jeans you can find. Not loud at all, yet still fun and trendy, these pants can be worn with any of your favorite sweaters or simply a lighter chambray shirt. Speaking of chambray, if you are looking for the famous, must-have-for-Fall, "chambray shirt, " JCrew has the BEST!!

I have the "Keeper" Chambray Shirt, available for $78.00, which I love and wear all the time. And right now, JCrew has the darker "Keeper" chambray shirt on sale for $68, plus an additional 30% off brings it to $47.60. I might just need a darker chambray to add to my closet come to think of it ;) The Toothpick Jean in Polka Dot is available at, originally $135, it's on sale for $99. PLUS, an extra 50% off brings these polka dot cuties to only $50.00! :) SOLD to the blonde with the shopping addiction!

So, If you aren't opposed to a little fun and flare on your bottom, check out these great finds, and I hope to see you in your printed jeans this season!!! From Millionaire Corner, I'm Heather Kiely reminding you to keep your investments where you can see them; in your closet, of course!!!!
