In our book, The Republican Dream Team of 2016, my co-author, Kathy Seei, and I put forth the recommendation that if the Republicans ran as a team rather than as independent candidates just slugging it out with one another, the Republican Party would have a greater chance of winning the White House in 2016.  Our belief is that many of the candidates running have exceptional talents and could effectively solve the many problems our country currently faces.  They are stronger banding together rather than tearing one another apart.

Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson have both used the term "citizen patriots" as part of their campaign rhetoric.  It's a very attractive concept. They explain that the Constitution was written by these "citizen patriots".  These are regular citizens - business people, professionals, farmers - who worked together to create the government that today employs millions of people and spends billions of dollars (and happens to be trillions of dollars in debt).  Voters in 2016 are attracted to "outsiders" as candidates.  Donald Trump, successful businessman, leads the polls nationally. There are more ultra-wealthy American households today than ever, according to a report from Spectrem Group. This well-heeled market has 132,000 households. That’s up from 117,000 in Spectrem’s 2012 report.

Following four years of increases, the number of U.S. households with a net worth of $1 million or more, not including primary residence (NIPR), reached a new high in 2013 of 9.63 million, an increase of more than 600,000 from 2012, according to the Affluent Market Insights Report 2014 by Spectrem Group.
